Dance
Aston Gorilla
This was the first dance film I made – inspired by a combination of my eldest’s son’s nightmares and one of his favourite jokes (at the time): What team does King Kong support? Aston Gorilla.
The first time I worked with the wonderful dancer Christopher Evans.
Aston Gorilla won the Alternative Routes Award at Moves 10.
Selected for the most prestigious global dance festivals: IMZ in Amsterdam and VideoDanza in Barcelona.
Rasha
My second collaboration with Christopher Evans. A dramatisation of the difficulty of ‘standing on your own two feet’… something I was struggling with at the time…
David Johnson shot the film and his dynamic camera work was crucial.
Rasher was screened on C4 as part of Random Acts.
Bullshit Thoughts Rot Your Meat
The title comes from a line in Funkadelic’s Good Thoughts Bad Thoughts. Again with Christopher Evans and a reflection on the way my head works… Shot in Shepherds Bush Market – where we got the tracksuits.
Once again David Johnson’s camera work gave the film its dynamism.
