Tom Browne, 2022

 

Tom had leading roles in films ranging from blockbusters such as ‘The Mummy Returns’, ‘Van Helsing’ and ‘Shanghai Knights’ to low budget arthouse films such as ‘Treacle Jr’ which won the Jury Prize at Dinard and most recently ‘Looted’ winner of the FIPRESCI prize in 2019.

In 1999 he co-wrote the screenplay and starred in the feature film ‘The Nine Lives of Tomas Katz.’

In 2007 Tom was commissioned by Channel 4. His script, Brussels, was a pacey urban drama about ticket touts. It received critical aclaim:

Tom directed his first short film in 2008. His script, Spunkbubble, attracted a strong cast – Aidan Gillen, Martin Compston and Simon Day. Spunkbubble was selected for the London Film Festival and then Slam Dance.

Tom followed Spunkbubble with a series of short films which were screened at festivals and on Channel 4.

In 2015 Tom co-wrote and directed his first feature - Radiator - selected for the London FF and many other festivals, winning Best Feature at the Dallas and Galway Film Festivals, and the Audience Award at Glasgow Film Festival. Tom was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Evening Standard Film Awards and the Critics Circle Awards and for Best First Feature at the Screen Writers Guild.

Radiator was released by Picturehouse and received very positive reviews:
